Military Logistics Information System (LIS)
ELEKS’ Logistics Information System helps defense organizations manage complex supply chains, inventories, procurement, and asset readiness in one integrated environment.
The solution consolidates fragmented processes, disconnected systems, and paper records into a single source of reliable, real-time data. This enhances visibility, speeds up supply operations, and improves accountability.
LIS can be adapted to an organization’s operational structure, security requirements, national regulations, and NATO standards.

The challenges a logistics information system is built to solve
-
Lack of real-time visibility into assets and inventory
Defense organizations handle large inventories of equipment, spare parts, vehicles, and supplies at many locations and commands. Without real-time visibility, shortages can go unnoticed, assets may be used inefficiently, and procurement decisions might rely on old information.
-
Complex, fragmented supply chain management
Military supply chains use many suppliers, procurement channels, warehouses, and distribution points, often under tight deadlines. Using separate systems to manage this complexity can cause delays, mistakes, and gaps in accountability, which can hurt mission readiness.
-
Lack of proper inventory tracking and control
Tracking the amount, quality, location, and expiry dates of materials across a wide logistics network is essential, but difficult without the right tools. Too much or too little stock, or missed losses, increases risk and costs.
-
Poor integration between logistics, finance, and HR systems
Many defense organizations use separate systems for logistics, finance, and personnel tasks. Without connecting these systems, staff must match records by hand, reports may be unreliable, and it is hard to know the real cost of operations.
-
Manual and paper-based logistics processes
Many defense logistics tasks still rely on manual data entry, paper records, and spreadsheets. These methods are slow, can lead to mistakes, and add extra work for logistics staff who could focus on more important tasks.
-
Compliance with military standards and audit requirements
Defense logistics must follow strict rules and audit requirements for buying, managing assets, and tracking finances. Without systems that clearly record transactions and can be traced, proving compliance is hard and time-consuming.
Covering the full scope of defense
logistics operations
LIS helps manage key defense resources efficiently, meeting all military logistics needs. It tracks items like spare parts, repair materials, food, clothing, ammunition, drones, medical supplies, protective gear, fuel, construction materials, and real estate. The system provides real-time updates on stock, demand, and resource distribution across units, warehouses, arsenals, and supply centers.
The warehouse management module replaces paper records and manual checks with ongoing digital analysis. Organizations can monitor orders and inventory in real time, keep unified product records, and get automatic alerts about shortages before they affect operations. LIS works with both online and offline mobile apps, so field teams can manage stock even without an internet connection.
LIS integrates procurement, budgeting, and supply planning in a fully digital process. It covers everything from electronic orders and approvals to contract management and online tracking. The system supports both centralized and decentralized procurement, delivery planning, forecasting, financial control, budget monitoring, and detailed spending analysis.
The system helps with maintenance, repair, and overhaul of equipment and key assets by showing spare-part availability, maintenance needs, and resource demand. This lets teams plan ahead instead of only reacting to equipment failures.
LIS helps with logistics planning at all levels—strategic, tactical, and operational. It covers force planning, resource allocation, deployment preparation, equipment and supply distribution, and tracking logistics readiness across units and commands.
The platform manages help from international partners with full traceability. It handles everything from creating and processing requests to real-time balance management, tracking item names and serial numbers, fast order transfers, and combined reporting across warehouses and arsenals.
LIS creates a single source for logistics data, offering dashboards, standard and custom reports, supply and inventory analytics, and forecasts for shortages and deliveries. Data is combined from all units, with advanced analysis tools and built-in security to protect sensitive information. The system also handles human resources, finance, master data and NATO Stock Number management, ticketing, service management, coding, classification, and connects with external warehouse and logistics platforms, including LOGFAS and other military systems.
ELEKS designs and configures the entire solution to keep your systems secure, stable, and compliant from the start. This includes hardware, infrastructure, operating systems, middleware, SAP environments, user roles, data protection, system interfaces, and separate areas for sensitive data.
You can add online and offline mobile features to your warehouse operations. This lets your logistics team manage inventory, track movements, and process orders even when the connection is weak or unavailable, so work continues smoothly.
With SAP-based analytics and reporting, your organization can spot shortages early, track supply levels, plan more accurately, and make faster, better decisions using up-to-date information.
ELEKS also offers cloud integration and AI-powered analytics as part of its custom logistics solutions. You can expand LIS with cloud services, advanced analytics, AI features, and custom apps when your operations and security needs allow.
How we deliver the LIS solution
We analyze existing logistics processes, systems, data sources, and operational challenges. Together with the customer’s stakeholders and key users, we define business, technical, security, and regulatory requirements.
ELEKS prepares the solution blueprint and designs the target architecture. This includes functional scope, system landscape, infrastructure, integrations, security model and migration approach.
Our SAP specialists configure SAP S/4HANA and develop the required custom functionality. We also create interfaces with warehouse, financial, coding, ticketing, military and other customer systems.
ELEKS cleans, maps and transfers information from legacy platforms into LIS. We validate master data, nomenclature, inventory records and other critical information before production launch.
The solution is configured to comply with applicable legislation, internal defense requirements and relevant international military standards, including NATO STANAG where required. Roles and authorizations are defined to control access to sensitive information.
We develop test scenarios and conduct functional, integration, performance and user-acceptance testing with customer representatives and key users. We also support the required security assessment and authorization-to-operate process.
ELEKS delivers onsite and online training for administrators and users. Training materials can include user manuals, video lessons, knowledge tests and a dedicated Moodle-based learning platform. Following acceptance, we launch the system into production and support the transition from legacy processes.
After go-live, ELEKS provides technical and functional support, system maintenance and continuous improvement. The solution can be expanded with new organizational units, logistics domains, integrations and functionality as the customer’s requirements evolve.
